To actively respond to the call of President Xi Jinping, implement the 14th Five-Year Plan and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035, and promote global cooperation in future scientific and technological innovation and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and foster new drivers of future scientific and technological development, and accelerate the understanding and research of future science and technology, the first Global Future Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Conference, approved by the State Council, was co-hosted by China Council for Promotion of International Trade, China Association for Science and Technology, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, the People's Government of Beijing Municipal, World Intellectual Property Organization and United Nations Industrial Development Organization on July 29th, 2022 in Beijing under the theme of “Technology Empowers the Future, Innovation Leads Development”.

Premier Li Keqiang sent a congratulatory letter to the conference. With the approval of General Secretary Xi Jinping, Gao Yunlong, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, attended the meeting. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana, Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Zhang Guihua, Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology, Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Gerd Müller, Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and Marco Aleman, Assistant Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony respectively. Ren Hongbin, President of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, presided over the opening ceremony.

The conference will be dedicated to strengthening global cooperation in future science and technology innovation, jointly exploring the challenges and difficulties faced by global science and technology, and providing support for the better life of human society.
